The family of John Gorski (85) sadly announce his passing at Marlborough Health and Rehabilitation Center on March 11, 2024. John was born in New Britain, CT on April 24, 1938 to Ignacy and Ann Gorski. He graduated from New Britain High School and studied engineering. He was drafted into the Army and proudly served his country in the states and South Korea. After the army he married his wife Annie and eventually settled in East Hampton. He worked at New Britain Machine for many years as a job estimator /draftsman, then several other machine tool companies. “Johnny,” as everyone called him, had many talents. Among them were Master Gardener, beekeeper, and fisherman. He had a large garden and orchard where he grew too many crops for one family to consume. What wasn’t eaten or canned by Annie, was given away to friends and family. John also kept bees which produced gallons of honey a season. Finally, John was an avid fisherman. On his summer adventures in Maine he would search the lake for the “big one.” He was also a UCONN women’s basketball fan and loved falling asleep to golf on tv. A low-key, quick-witted gentleman, he always had a comeback waiting. You could always find him at family gatherings entertaining his granddaughters: teaching them things about nature, showing them baby birds, and pushing them on the many swings throughout their property. One of his famous lines to say to them was “Tell me something I don’t know.” John was a communicant of St. Patrick Church in East Hampton, CT. Besides Ann, his wife of 58 years, he is survived by his son Michael Gorski of Colchester, his sister Frances Burr and husband Larry of Florida, his three grandchildren Kara, Michaela, and Nicole Gorski, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother Chester Gorski and wife Judy (Goolsby) Gorski. Friends may call at the Spencer Funeral Home, 112 Main St. East Hampton, on Tuesday, March 19th from 5:00pm-7:00pm. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 20th at 11:00am in St. Patrick Church, 47 West High St. East Hampton. Burial will be in the CT State Veteran’s Cemetery on Bow Lane in Middletown.
